Setting the number of decimals

In Robaws, you decide yourself how many decimals are used. This setting applies to your entire environment and affects both the display and the rounding of calculated values. There are four separate settings, each for a different type of value.

Where can I find this setting?

Go to Settings > General. There you will find the Amount #decimals section.

The Amount #decimals section in Settings > General

After making changes to the settings, click 'Activate settings' at the bottom right to actually apply them in your Robaws environment.

The four settings

Setting

Where it applies

Amount #decimals

The number of decimals for amounts across the entire environment. Determines both the display and the rounding of amounts on lines, measurements and calculations.

Purchaseprice #decimals

The number of decimals for the display and rounding of the purchase price across the entire environment (for example on the article and supplier record and on purchase orders).

Sale price #decimals

The number of decimals for the display and rounding of the sale price across the entire environment (for example on quotation lines and subscriptions). If you create a progress claim from a quotation, the unit prices are also rounded to this number of decimals.

Amountformula amount #decimals

The number of decimals used for amount formulas (the calculated amount).

If you leave a setting empty, 2 decimals are used by default. The Amountformula amount #decimals setting is an exception: if you leave it empty, it automatically follows the number of decimals of the regular Amount #decimals.

Rounding happens at display and calculation. If you lower the number of decimals, values that are already saved are not recalculated or rounded retroactively; the new setting applies from that moment on for display and calculation.

Example

Suppose you are an earthworks company and you charge earth moving per m³ with high precision, but you want your sale prices neatly rounded to the cent.

  1. Go to Settings > General and find the Amount #decimals section.
  2. Set Amount #decimals to 3, so that an amount such as 12.750 m³ is displayed and calculated correctly.
  3. Set Purchaseprice #decimals to 4, because your supplier charges bulk material per unit with four decimals.
  4. Set Sale price #decimals to 2, so that your sale prices are rounded to the cent.
  5. Leave Amountformula amount #decimals empty, so that your amount formulas automatically keep the same 3 decimals as your regular amounts.
  6. Click Activate settings at the bottom right.

From then on, amounts are displayed and rounded to 3 decimals, purchase prices to 4 and sale prices to 2, across your entire environment.
