Dividing your dayplanning into categories and groups

You can make your dayplanning clearer in two ways:

  • with a planning type you give every planning item a category with a colour, so that you can see at a glance what kind of work it is;
  • with a planning group you group the lines of the calendar, for example your employees per team.

You can use both together.

Categories with a planning type

A planning type is a category with a colour. If you assign a planning type to a planning item, the item gets that colour in the calendar.

Example: you create a planning type 'Maintenance' with a green colour. You give it to all maintenance jobs. In the calendar you then see immediately which jobs are maintenance.

  1. Create your planning types via Settings > Dayplanning > Master data > Planning type. You also find the same list via Settings > General, in the master data under Planning.
  2. Give every planning type a Name and a Color.
  3. On a planning item, choose the planning type in the Planning type field.

If a planning item has no planning type, it gets the colour of its time-off category, if it concerns an absence.

Groups with a planning group

In the calendar you decide yourself how you view the planning, for example per employee. Those employees are then listed as lines one below the other. With a planning group you bundle those lines per group.

Employees grouped by planning group in the dayplanning

You find the Planning group field on the file of your employees, equipment, installations and projects, and on your planning resources and execution phases. Within a group the lines are in alphabetical order.

'Planning group' field on the employee file

The planning group is a free text field, not a choice list. So always write the name of a group in exactly the same way, otherwise Robaws makes two groups of it.

Examples:

  • On the employee file you divide your employees per team: maintenance, installation, administration, ...
  • On the project file you divide your projects per type of work: installation, maintenance, time & materials, ...
