Price groups

A price group is a category that you assign to a customer. On the basis of price groups you can assign a different price to a group of customers.
You can either set this per item or across all items (per cost type). It is also possible to combine this with tier prices.

Besides price groups there are also other ways to determine a different price (per customer, per project, and so on)

There are several ways to assign a different price via price groups:

  1. You set a different margin on the cost price for this price group.
  2. You set a different selling price for this price group.
  3. You set a discount for this price group.

Example:
You divide your customers into the categories 'category A' (loyal customers), 'category B (regular customers)' and 'category C (new customers)'.

  • You always take a 25% margin on the cost price for new customers.
  • For category A customers you want to reduce your margin to 20%.
  • For category B customers you want to reduce your margin to 22%

For categories A and B you can create 2 price groups and link them to the customer file. All new customers (category C) automatically fall back on the 25% margin set on your item file.

To use the price groups, this function has to be activated via settings > general > price group.

Creating a price group

  1. Go to settings > general > master data > financial > price group. Activate this function.
  2. Click the + sign to create a new price group.
  3. Give the price group a name.
  4. Create as many price groups as you wish.

Linking a price group to a customer

On the customer file you can indicate which price group this customer belongs to. If you fill in nothing, your customer falls back on the selling price of the item file.
In the field 'price group' you can choose from a template already created in the settings, or you can set a custom price group that applies specifically to this customer.
If you choose 'custom price group', you can set up the price group in exactly the same way as you do in the settings.

Setting a different price across all items (per cost type)

If you want to assign a different price for a price group across all items, you can determine this in the settings per cost type. This deviation is then valid for all items of this cost type.
Do this via settings > general > master data > financial > price group.

Setting a different price per item

You can choose to set a different selling price for your price groups per item, or for certain items only. You only do this for the price groups that deviate from the item price. If you do not set a different price for a price group, it falls back on the default price of the item.

The different prices are entered on the item file in the 'tier prices' frame. If this is not visible, you can activate it in the settings > general > settings > tier prices.

  • Fill in a quantity (attention: if you fill in 'from 1', this price will not be applied for 0.5, for example. So it is better to fill in from 0)
  • Fill in the different (selling) price, margin or discount.
  • Fill in which price group this applies to.

We recommend using the margin setting. This way a price update is automatically processed in your tier prices.

Linking a price group to a tier price

You can set a different price for an item from a certain quantity onwards. These are tier prices. You can set these for all your customers (in that case do not fill in a price group), or for certain price groups only.
To do this, follow the steps to set a different price per item and fill in the quantity.

Example:
You divide your customers into the categories 'category A' (loyal customers), 'category B (regular customers)' and 'category C (new customers)'.
The selling price of the item 'cement' is normally determined with a 60% margin on the cost price.
From 100 pieces onwards there is an adjusted selling price, on which you take less margin. You set this for categories A and B; for category C this is not necessary, because these are all the remaining customers.
