Tier prices

Tier prices are prices that depend on the quantity your customer takes. From a certain quantity onwards, a different selling price applies. You can also combine a tier with price groups, so that it only applies to the customers in that price group.

Example: one bag of cement costs 4 euros. If a customer takes 100 bags, a bag then costs 3.25 euros.

Creating tier prices on the item

First activate the function via settings > general > settings > tier prices. After that you create a tier price on the item file, in the 'tier prices' frame.

You can determine a tier price in three ways:

  1. set a different selling price
  2. set a different margin — Robaws calculates the selling price itself
  3. set a discount

Preferably work with a custom margin or a discount. That way the tier price also remains correct after the price of the item has been updated.

Linking a tier price to a price group

In the price group column, fill in the corresponding price group. The tier price then only applies to the customers in that price group. All other customers simply get the normal selling price.

Example: you divide your customers into three categories according to their loyalty to your organisation. The higher the category, the higher the discount. On a bag of cement with a cost price of 2.50 euros you normally charge a 60% margin. You draw up a tier from 100 bags onwards, combined with the price group the customer belongs to.

Where tier prices are applied

Robaws applies tier prices in all modules: quotation, invoice, order, subscription and so on.

In a simple quotation this happens immediately, line by line. So the quantities of different lines are not added together.

In a calculated quotation it works differently. There the tier prices are only applied after you click update prices. At that moment Robaws adds up the totals per item across the whole quotation and then applies the correct price. Because you always have to take that step yourself, we do not recommend tier prices in a calculated quotation.

Please note: with update prices you recalculate all prices and the entire composition of your posts. First take a copy of your quotation if you want to be able to fall back on the old version.
