Why are the tier prices not applied in my quotation?
Tier prices are prices that are determined by the quantity the customer buys. You set these on the item record.
Even so, it can happen that the tier prices are not applied straight away in a quotation. Below you will find the possible causes, each with an example to clarify.
In our example the price is € 100 for 1 tin of paint and € 90 from 5 units onwards.
Tier prices in a simple quotation
In a simple quotation the tier prices are determined per line. So if you show the same item several times on the quotation, the quantities are not added together to arrive at a tier price.
When you add an item, the correct (quantity discount) price is visible immediately.

Tier prices in a calculated quotation
In a calculated quotation the tier prices are calculated across the whole quotation. If the same item appears several times on the quotation, including in the line details, the quantities are **added together **to calculate the correct tier price.
To calculate the correct tier prices, click the 'update prices' button. This makes sure that all quantities are added together and that the correct tier prices are applied.
In the example below the quotation consists of 2 lines:
- line 1 = 1 tin of paint
- line 2 = a post with 0.10 tins of paint per m² in the line details -> quotation for 200 m² -> 20 tins of paint
BEFORE update prices the tier price is not yet applied, so the price is € 100.
As soon as the 'update prices' button is clicked, the quantities for this item from the whole quotation are added together, so that the tier price of € 90 is applied on line 1 as well as on line 2.
