Adding a commission to your quotation
Have you agreed a commission with a third party, with the architect for example? You include it in your quotation price through the Commission field. Robaws spreads the commission proportionally across all quotation lines, so the customer pays it and it does not come out of your margin.
Commission only works in a calculated quotation. If you do not see the 'margins' tab, you are working in a simple quotation and cannot add a commission.
Entering a commission
- Open the quotation and go to the Margins tab.
- On the Commission card, enter the percentage for the calculation you want to use.
The commission is spread across all lines automatically and immediately. You do not have to apply anything extra.
The two calculations
You choose between two ways of entering the percentage.
Field | What it does |

Commission % | The commission is calculated on top of the base price. If you enter 10%, that works out at 9.09% of the total. |
Commission on total % | The commission is a share of the total price. If you enter 10%, that works out at 11.11% of the base price. |
An example with a quotation of two lines:

Overview of the commission
In the quotations overview screen you add two columns:
- Commission — the commission percentage;
- Commission amount — the amount of the commission.
Do you also want to record who the commission is intended for? Create an extra field on the quotation for that. You can then also show that extra field in the quotations overview screen.
Questions
My commission is not added to every line, how is that possible?
That happens on lines where you have fixed the price yourself with Custom price (the tick box on the 'lay-out' tab in the line details of the post). Because you set that price manually, Robaws does not add commission on top of it. The commission is still calculated, but it is deducted from your margin. Can I enter a commission for some quotation lines and not for others?
No. The commission always applies to the entire quotation. If you do want to charge only part of the quotation, add an extra 'commission' line in the line details of those posts with cost type Indirect costs and fill it in manually. You then find the overview of the total commission in the recalculation of your project.
