Adding a measurement

In a quotation, change order and progress claim you can enter quantities manually, but you can also measure the site once and then use those measurements again and again in your quotation lines (and in progress claims / change orders). For a measurement you can either enter a simple value or have a formula calculate the value.

Example:
We are drawing up a quotation for a façade renovation. The customer asks for a price for cleaning, repointing and painting.
On site we measured the surface area of the façade and the surface area of the windows that have to be masked off. By entering this in Robaws once, we can draw up the quotation quickly with the correct values.

Entering measurements

You can enter a measurement via the action button at the top of a quotation / progress claim / change order.
To do so, follow these steps:

1. Click the 'measurement' action button (not visible? activate it in the settings)
2. If measurements already exist for this quotation, you will see them listed here.
3. To add a new measurement, click the '+' icon (next to it there is an icon for creating a folder structure)
4. On the right, choose simple or formula

Simple measurement

With a simple measurement you enter the value yourself straight away.

5. Give the measurement a name on the right (e.g. Hoogte gevel 1)
6. Enter the value (e.g. 10 if the façade is 10 m high)

Measurement with a formula

With a measurement based on a formula you let a formula calculate the value.

5. Give the measurement a name on the right (e.g. Oppervlakte gevel 1)
6. Choose the formula you want to use (e.g. oppervlakte) - you can create these amount formulas in the settings
7. Fill in the values; you can do this on one line or on several lines (e.g. line 1 = gross façade area, line 2 = subtract the window area)
8. On the left, next to the measurement, you immediately see the result of the calculation

Add all your measurements in this way. When you are finished, close the measurements window.

Using measurements

On a quotation line you can type a quantity in the 'quantity' column, but you can also choose to calculate with an existing measurement.
To do so, follow these steps:

1. Click the 'i' icon that appears next to the quantity
2. At the top right, choose 'measurement'
3. Choose whether you also want to show this calculation on the PDF (quotations and change orders only, not progress claims)
4. In 'measurement formula', fill in the measurement you want to use for this quotation line. This can simply be the name of a measurement (e.g. Hoogte gevel 1), or a combination of measurements (e.g. Hoogte gevel 1 + Hoogte gevel 2), or a formula.
5. The calculated result appears underneath
6. Close the 'measurements' screen; the result is now filled in on your quotation line

Additional options

Using measurements from another module

If you have already taken measurements in a related module ( = quotations, progress claims and change orders that are linked to the same project), you can call them up via the measurement pop-up screen. Click the number of your document and you immediately see which other modules you can select measurements from.

Changing measurements

You can change the measurements afterwards. What are the consequences?

From now on, new lines will use the amended measurements

For existing lines with an (old) measurement you have a choice:

• If you do nothing, the old measurements are kept
• If you want to update some lines but not others, you can click open the quantity in the line and make your choice there
• Would you like to synchronise all measurements in the quotation to the new measurements? Then click the options of the quotation and choose 'sync measurements'.

Removing a measurement from a line

To remove a measurement from your quotation line, open the quantity and click the delete action button (bin) in the 'amount calculation' window.
This removes the measurement from this quotation line only, not from the overview of measurements.

Adding a measurement from the line

You can also add a measurement from the line itself and then reuse it everywhere.
To do so, follow these steps:

1. Click open the 'quantity' on your line
2. The 'amount calculation' screen opens. On the right, choose 'measurement' (this adds a measurement that you can reuse) or 'formula' (this calculates a value once, for this line only)

Settings

To use measurements, go to settings > projects > settings. There you activate the 'measurement' function. Once you have done this, you can use this feature.
