# Registering a fine or bonus for an employee

A **deduction or allowance** is an amount that is deducted from the wage (deduction) or added to the wage (allowance).
This amount is assigned to an [employee file](https://support.robaws.com/en/article/employees-general-4h4p3y/).

The deduction or allowance is a preparation for the social secretariat. At this moment this is **informative** in Robaws. Nothing further is done with it in Robaws. 
There are further possibilities to use this in combination with the integration with [SCAB](https://support.robaws.com/en/article/how-does-the-scab-integration-work-12j8nv8/).

## Creating a deduction or allowance

Via **settings > general > master data > deduction or allowance** you can configure one or more deductions and/or allowances.

A deduction or allowance contains the following fields:

* **Code:** this code refers to the deduction or allowance. It only has to be filled in if there is an active integration with [SCAB](https://support.robaws.com/en/article/how-does-the-scab-integration-work-12j8nv8/).
* **Description:** how can the deduction or allowance be described?
* **Type:** is it a deduction or an allowance?

## Use

In an **employee file** you can assign deductions and/or allowances to an employee. These are informative in Robaws.
You can do this via the 'deductions/allowances' tab on the employee file. 

When you register a deduction or allowance, you can always specify a date and fill in a description and an amount.
