# Employees | Settings

In this article we take you step by step through the '**employee settings**'. Also take a look at the general settings, because there may be settings there that have an impact on the employees.

You go to **settings > employees** to see the page with the employee settings.
You go to **settings > general** to see the page with the general settings.

| After you have made changes in the settings, it is important to click 'activate settings' at the bottom right in order to apply them.

## Overview

Determine here what **the first tab** in the overview of the employees looks like.
What you change via the settings changes for every user. In addition, every user can also choose to create their [own overview](https://support.robaws.com/en/article/working-with-tabs-in-the-overview-screen-1uez0cm/) and set it up as they wish.

| Setting | Explanation |
| ---- |
| [Quick filters](https://support.robaws.com/en/article/using-filters-in-the-overview-screen-jhinln/) | Choose here which filters are ready by default in your overview. |
| [System overview ](https://support.robaws.com/en/article/using-overview-screens-10zscoo/) | Determine which columns you want in your overview, and in which order you want to see them. |
| Card info | Set the title, the subtitle and the fields of the card in the [kanban and map views](https://support.robaws.com/en/article/views-in-the-overview-screen-au7o3/). A maximum of 8 fields in total. |
| Tags | Set up labels that appear on a card as soon as an item meets your condition. At most 10 per module. |

Card info and tags apply to the whole environment. Columns are set separately.

## Extra fields

Every module in Robaws consists of a number of **standard fields**. These already let you note down the greater part of the standard details.
But just as in all modules in Robaws, you can also use [extra fields](https://support.robaws.com/en/article/working-with-extra-fields-1vwszk1/) in the employee file.
You can create the extra fields in order to register other specific information that cannot be recorded in the standard fields.

## PDF

These settings relate to the performance sheet of the employee that you can take from the employee overview screen.

| Setting | Explanation |
| ---- |
| Show [mobility column](/en/article/applying-a-mobility-allowance-18ab3jf/) on PDF | The mobility column shows the number of kilometres registered for this employee, linked to the correct mobility type. You get a total amount of allowance to be paid. |
| Show cost price column on PDF | The cost price column shows the cost price of the hours registered for this employee. |

## Statuses

You can **determine the statuses of the employee yourself**. By default 2 statuses have been created: discontinued, active. You can of course change, delete or add to these.
In addition, it is possible to set a default status. This is the status that every new employee is given when the employee file is set up.

||| The use of statuses is case sensitive. Make sure that the naming is exactly the same everywhere.

## Default documents

Set up your [default documents](https://support.robaws.com/en/article/creating-a-contract-or-extra-default-document-qitho/) here that you want to use in the employees module. These appear in the employee file under the action button 'default document'. You can still edit them there before you send them to the employee.

## E-mail templates

Here you can set up the [e-mail templates](https://support.robaws.com/en/article/email-template-1r656oh/) that you want to use in the employees module. This means that you can prepare various e-mails with a particular text (with or without replacement codes) and with particular attachments.
You can also choose to have an attachment [signed digitally](https://support.robaws.com/en/article/having-documents-signed-digitally-18e2mvq/) by the employee.
