# Creating a post

**Posts** make for a smooth calculation in Robaws. You use them in calculated quotations and change orders.

To draw up a post correctly and completely, you go through the steps below.  
TIP: You can choose for yourself how far you want to go in this, and stop after step 1, for example, to draw up a simple post.

## Where do I start?

There are 2 options:
* you can draw up a post **from your post library**: items module > click the **posts** action button at the top > click the **add** action button at the top to draw up a new post.  
* you can draw up a post **from a quotation**, and then save it in your post library: add a line > enter a name in the description and go through the steps below > when you are ready, you can choose 'add as new post' via the 'lay-out' tab
Working in the post library gives you a clearer picture, and that is also the explanation we give below.
Here is a concise and structured summary of the "calculation" manual for drawing up a post:

## Steps for drawing up a calculation post correctly and completely

**1. Adding items:**

* Add items from the item library to the calculation.
* For items that do not exist yet you can use a description, in which case the cost type, the cost price and the margin have to be filled in manually.

**2. Determining the quantity per item:**

* Determine the quantity of each item that is needed to calculate the post unit (e.g. m²).
* **Totality function:** Makes sure that the quantity entered for an item stays unchanged, regardless of the quantity that is entered in the quotation later on (no multiplication by the post quantity in the quotation).
* **Custom price:** Makes it possible to overwrite a fixed price of an item from the item library.

**3. Using parameters (variables):**

* Parameters are used to automate the post where there are variables (e.g. a colour choice or the number of days of an aerial work platform).
* Give a unique name and description.
* Possible values (e.g. "blauw", "rood") have to be put between quotation marks.
* A formula (condition) can be applied to the quantity of an item, for example `kleurverf == "blauw" ? 1:0`.
* Parameters can also be a calculation (e.g. `(hoogtewerker == "ja"?1:0) * aantaldagen`).
* **DISTANCE_KM** is a predefined parameter that refers to the automatically calculated number of kilometres in the quotation.
* Parameters are case-sensitive.

**4. Using automatic text:**

* The value of a parameter can be shown automatically in the quotation via the "extended description" field.
* Use the structure: `${naamparameter}` (e.g. `Kleur: ${kleurverf}`).
* Text can also be shown conditionally on the basis of a parameter choice.

## Calculation

What is certainly also interesting here are two options to deviate from the price/post:

**Totality**: when you use this function, it is indicated that the quantity entered for the item stays unchanged, regardless of the quantity that is entered in the quotation.  In other words, the quantity is fixed and is not multiplied by the quantity of the post in the quotation.

**Custom price**: when you use this function, a fixed price of an item can be overwritten. This way an item from the item library can be used, but a different price can be assigned to it.


## Assigning a post on the quotation

When you receive a measurement and read it into Robaws, all the line details end up on your quotation. To link the posts to the posts you have already prepared in your system, you click 'assign posts' or you fill in the post number at the item number, and press enter. The posts are linked to each other by means of the post number.

## Post breakdown on the pdf

You can decide each time whether or not to show the breakdown of a post on the pdf.
On the post itself you can set whether this is shown by default or not.
